Looking for a career in nature and don’t know where to start?

Thanks to the Mendip Hills Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme, funded by DEFRA, we have developed a short career guide for people seeking a career in the land-based and conservation sector.

We’ve designed this guide to focus on opportunities in the West of England. It features local volunteering and case-studies from people currently working in the sector, with top tips for those starting out.

The guide is primarily aimed at young people (ages 16-25) and includes details on post-16 apprenticeships, college and university courses. However, many of the opportunities are suitable for any age. It is never too late to seek a career in nature!

We have also included some opportunities to help aid those who face particular barriers to the conservation sector, such as disability, mental health issues, poverty or disadvantaged background.
