Centenary Woodland Grove and Hedgerow Appeal
To mark 100 years of protecting rural England, CPRE Avon & Bristol is planting a new Centenary Woodland Grove between Bristol and Bath. 100 trees will be planted by Bristol Youth Orchestra and local volunteers as part of the new Great Avon Wood.
Every donation supports tree and hedgerow planting across our landscapes – creating habitats, improving biodiversity and leaving a lasting legacy.

TARGET – £10,000
Your gift can help the countryside for another 100 years and beyond.
Help us secure an abundant countryside for future generations of people and wildlife. You will be able to visit this public site off the A37 and Parsonage Lane approximately 7 miles south of Bristol near Pensford (BS39 4JF) and watch as the trees begin to work their magic and create space for nature to thrive.
WHAT IS A WOODLAND GROVE?
Donating to this special woodland grove means we can plant a variety of native trees that form areas of thick vegetation. Trees like hazel; hawthorn; bird cherry; briar rose; rowan and wild pear will be planted on March 1st, 2026. Please come along and join us!
Five groves will be planted across the site providing a mosaic of habitat that provides food, shelter and nesting sites for birds, bats and other small mammals like hedgehogs and creates space for bumble bees and other insects to forage and build nests at ground level.
In recognition of your valued donations, a permanent commemorative plaque will be left at the woodland site.
This Appeal will also enable us to plant and rejuvenate hedgerows in the area, as part of our Hedgerow Heroes’ project. The goal is to reach our target of laying or planting 10km of hedgerow by the Spring of 2027. We are currently at 6.42 kilometres. Please help us get there! Your donation, however small, matters and helps to create a diverse and robust countryside for future generations.
